Hi there, I’m Amie Roussel, and I’m so glad you’ve come to visit!
I’m not just a photographer—I’m a creator of memories, capturing moments that tell your unique story. With every session, my goal is to do so much more than just take photos. I want to celebrate this special time in your life with you, making it a joyful and stress-free experience.
Based in the stunning Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, I’ve been photographing happiness and milestones for over a decade. My journey into photography began in a world that might surprise you—ballet.
I grew up dancing in Northern Alberta, with ballet and Ukrainian dance as my first loves. My passion for dance took me around the world, training in cities like Paris, Tokyo, New York, and Buenos Aires. But it was my love for movement and storytelling that eventually led me behind the camera.
Today, I’m proud to run my studio, Amie Roussel Photography, where I get to capture the warmth, love, and connection that families share. I also fuel my passion for dance photography through Okanagan Dance Photography and Famous Photos, where I photograph the grace and artistry of dancers, blending my two lifelong passions.
I’m a mom to three wonderful children, and raising our family with my amazing husband on five beautiful acres just outside Vernon, BC is one of my greatest joys. Our life is filled with adventure, whether it’s swimming in our pool or exploring the woods around our home. Those everyday moments, with the sun setting behind us, are what inspire me to help families capture the joy in their own stories.
I believe that photography is more than just images—it’s about preserving the emotions, the laughter, the love, and the connection between people. Whether I’m photographing a wedding, a family session, or a dance performance, I put my heart into every shot. I cry at every wedding I photograph, swooning over the bride’s dress and tearing up at the groom’s reaction. It’s an honor to be invited into such intimate moments, and I promise to capture them with the same care and passion I would treat my own family with.
